Mathare United narrowly missed out on a Top 8 Finish after a 1-1 draw away to Chemelil Sugar in which top scorer Noah Abich missed a penalty.
The remaining game of the season saw both sides apply a cautious mentality although the Slum Boys had the better chances early on with Daniel Maura, Eric Johanna and Dennis Orange all failing to get on the score sheet from good chances.
It could have proved costly as the home side managed to break the deadlock moments before half-time when Alloyce Mangi’s long range shot hit the back of the net.
Eric Johanna once again looked lively and could have scored minutes later only for John Waw to make an athletic save.
It was on the 59th minute that Johanna finally got his goal with a magnificent strike that beat the Waw in the Sugar goal.
Mwaura used his pace and trickery to much affect and was fouled two minutes later inside the box.
Noah Abich stood up and the set piece specialist who has nine goals to his name this season looked set to fire the Slum Boys into the Top 8 competition. Unfortunately for Mathare his shot hit the bar and the chance was wasted.
Thomas Wanyama was an 82nd minute substitute for the Slum Boys found himself red carded after an incident with James Omino that also saw him see red.
The result means that the Slum Boys finish their campaign in 9th position, one ahead of last year.
